Whether you’re in Prague for the long term or just a quick work residency, Start-up školka Karlín is here for you and your children. We’re a small, welcoming kindergarten with warm atmosphere, where children and families from abroad quickly find their place.
We are not an English-language
kindergarten, but English is a
natural part of our everyday life.
Our team includes both Czech and English-speaking teachers, and communication in both languages is a part of our routine. One day a week, we even have English Thursday, when everyone including children and staff speaks English all day long. Start-up školka is a friendly, bilingual environment for childern ages 3-7, great for expat families.
We follow the rhythm of a child’s day alternating between activity and rest, indoor and outdoor time. Our programme is based on the Czech Early Childhood Education Framework, but we also incorporate ideas from other educational approaches like Montessori.
Every day offers space for new creative and physical activities, free play and group time. We support each child individually, always taking into account their personal needs.
Starting in a new place can be overwhelming. That’s why we give children time and space to adapt, and support parents with open, friendly communication. We take adaptation seriously and approach each child with patience, warmth and care. Our small, family-like setting helps children form relationships quickly and feel as a part of the group. We value kindness, routine and a calm environment where everyone feels seen.
Our kindergarten is located in the heart of Karlín, one of Prague’s most diverse and international neighborhoods. It’s natural for us to welcome children of different cultures and languages. We celebrate Czech traditions and holidays, but also learn from families who bring their own special days and customs. We love creating a space where everyone feels included and every culture is appreciated.
